Springtime in the Smokies

This was the 22nd year of the British Car Gathering arranged and run by the Blount County British Car Club in Maryville, TN. Each year, the Gathering draws cars from all states surrounding and including Tennessee and as far north as Michigan, as far south as Florida and many other places in between. Motorcars have ranged from a 1932 Morris sedan and a 1935 MG Airline Coupe to 1950s, 1960s and newer models of MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Minis and Sunbeams. The net proceeds from the Gathering are donated to the Blount County Children's Home. This year, as in many years past, it was held at the Tally Ho Inn. There is a large area for the cars and plenty of other space for trailers and tow vehicles.

Here's a not very good, spliced together, panoramic shot. There are roughly 125 cars out there

To the left is the MGT series class, except for the 1933 MG J2 on the far right. That one won 2nd place in its class of Special Sedans. Charlie & Pat Bunnell's '52 MGTD took 3rd place in the T Series Class.

Some MG-Bs (w/rubber bumpers) before the rains

Some MG-BS during/after the rains.

Charlie Bunnell & Larry Wyatt keeping dry in the Little British Car Company sales tent. They did a booming business with each deluge.

The J2 is winched back into its "garage."

Charlie's happy with the plaque.
